Osmo uses the device camera along with the red reflector to detect what the user is doing with the Osmo game pieces and/or drawings. Without access to the camera, Osmo can't see what pieces are in front of the device or what game play has taken place, which means the game(s) will not work.
Rest assured that by granting camera access, the Osmo reflector does NOT record the player (child) as it can only see what's happening with the game pieces themselves on the tabletop in front of the device.
